Fun Dance Classes For Every Age & Ability Level
Here at Prodigy Dance Australia, our number one goal is to make dance a fun and enjoyable experience that all students can’t wait to do each week!
Our dedicated and experienced teachers ensure that their dance classes are happy and inclusive places where they can share their love of all things dance with the students every lesson. No matter what stage your child is at, Prodigy Dance has an age and level appropriate class that your child will love. We also offer Boys Only Hiphop and have boys that attend other classes too!
Our Kindy - Year 12 Styles
With a wide variety of dance styles available there are plenty of options for your child to choose from, see below to find some more information on our different classes.
Jazz & Pom
Jazz is our most popular style and where we recommend most students start. Jazz is a very diverse form of dance influenced by old and new musicals through to modern pop music.
Pom is very similar to jazz but in this class we use pom poms similar to football cheerleaders!
These classes enhance flexibility, coordination and fitness, but most of all, it is simply great fun!
Tap
Tap is a dynamic and intricate form of dance that was pioneered by Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire and more recently made popular with groups such as 'Tap Dogs' and 'The Tap Pack'.
Prodigy students follow the 'Pullars Tap Syllabus' which provides progressions for each student to excel.
Hiphop
Hip Hop is a street style of dance that has become increasingly popular over the last ten years.
In class, students are taught breakdancing skills as well as basic acrobatic exercises to help strengthen and improve their technique.
Ballet
Classical ballet is characterised by a standard vocabulary of steps, poses and graceful movements including pointed feet, rising, jumping, stretching and spinning.
Our ballet classes contain traditional barre and centre work designed to create a strong and elegant dancer.
Pointe is available for eligible students.
Lyrical
Lyrical dance is a style that utilises both Jazz and Ballet technique in an expressive format.
This style encourages self-expression, natural movement and personal interpretation and is always popular with students at Prodigy Dance.
Cheerleading
At Prodigy Dance we offer ‘American Style’ cheerleading classes focusing strongly on teamwork, performance quality and fitness. Cheer classes are similar to what you would see in 'Bring it on' compared to football cheerleaders.
Cheer combines dancing, acrobatics and lifts in an exciting and dynamic style. Come along and learn all about cheer from our accredited coaches!
Acro
Acro classes at Prodigy teach students tumbling and acrobatic stunts.
This class is often taken by students looking to develop skills and tricks to take into their cheer and dance classes but is also open to those who want to have fun, build strength and flexibility, and learn some new skills.
It is similar to what children would learn in a gymnastics class without the apparatus.
